Most product launch videos fail in the first two seconds. Not because the product is bad, but because the video opens with a logo, a slow fade or a wall of text, and the viewer is gone before anything happens. Here is what the videos that work have in common.
1. The payoff comes first
Open on the most impressive moment, not the setup. If your product turns a messy task into one click, show the click and the result in the first second, then explain how you got there.
2. The real product is the star
Viewers trust what they can see working. Abstract shapes and stock footage say nothing about your product. Your real interface, animated clearly, does the selling for you.
3. One idea, not a feature list
A great launch video has one message, such as "your workspace answers questions for you", and shows two or three features that prove it. Trying to show everything makes the viewer remember nothing.
4. Something changes every two to three seconds
A new shot, a camera move or a UI action every few seconds keeps attention. Long static frames feel slow on a phone, even when the content is good.
5. It works with the sound off
Most social video is watched muted. Short on-screen words and clear UI actions should carry the story on their own, while the voiceover and music make it better for those who listen.
6. Sound is designed, not added
When it is heard, sound does half the work. A music drop that lands on your key feature, and small clicks and whooshes on every interaction, make motion feel physical and premium.
7. It is built for every screen
Plan a 16:9 version for your website and YouTube and a 9:16 version for Reels, Shorts and TikTok from the start. A vertical cut that is just the wide film shrunk into the middle wastes most of the phone screen.
Common mistakes
- Opening with a logo animation.
- Blurry screen recordings instead of sharp, rebuilt UI.
- A voiceover that reads the feature list from the website.
- Music that never builds to a moment.
- Ending without a clear next step.
